Exhibition Concept:
This exhibition is centered around artists Ni Jui Hung and Lee Jr Yun, both of whom have dedicated their work to themes from a female perspective. Set at the historic site of "Yuan Shan Bie Di"—an English Tudor-style building located across from the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and built during the Japanese colonial period—this project reflects on how this architectural blend of various European styles, with its charming garden and whimsical structure, resonates with today’s viewers after enduring a series of transformations throughout its history.
The project will feature a two-month dual exhibition within this heritage space. Artist Ni Jui Hung will showcase her recent hand-painted tile works, extending her artistry into spatial sculpture. These works draw on the characters and stories of local folklore to evoke the hidden magical forces within the building, breathing new possibilities into the century-old monument. Artist Lee Jr Yun, known for her exploration of the interrelationship between people, environment, and memory through printmaking and paper media, will present her interpretation of the Western world as idealized across generations. Together, the artists will reinterpret the memories embodied within the architecture, blending stories, people, and the site's historical context.
