Exhibition Concept:
This exhibition conceives the Maison ACME as a treasure box that collects emotions, memories, and a sense of time. Here, windows, walls, light, shadow, and rooms transcend their raw architectural functions to become mediums of observation and perception, allowing viewers to re-experience the connections between themselves, space, time, and inner emotions. The works revolve around the concept of "boundaries"—windows demarcate the interior from the exterior, drapes and frames form semi-transparent psychological defenses, light and shadow blur reality and dreamscapes, scents evoke memories and sensory feelings, while paintings materialize inner emotions into forms such as flowers, rocks, moths, or spatial landscapes. Together, these works point to a contemporary psychological experience: how individuals face their own anxiety, isolation, and desires amidst the fast-moving current of modern reality.

The sense of time within this historic architecture is not linear, but rather a state of juxtaposed multiple temporalities. The past lingers within the surfaces and textures of the walls, while contemporary observation and perception continuously flow in. Through temporal displacement and spatial transformation, the works allow viewers to gaze into the future from the past, or stray from reality into the fissures of the subconscious. Wandering through the space and observing the art, visitors embark on a journey exploring emotions, memory, and self-perception, peacefully coexisting within the space alongside these cherished and collected stories.

This exhibition is a group show by master's students from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Art at National Taiwan University of Arts, bringing together the creative endeavors of multiple emerging researchers and artists. Responding to themes of emotion, memory, time, and space through their unique artistic vocabularies, the artists forge a dialogue with the rich historic site of Maison ACME through painting and mixed media. In doing so, contemporary artistic thought generates fresh visual experiences and layers of perception within this heritage space.
